I’m Scott, a fan of tobacco pipes and pipe tobaccos and currently living in southern California, hence, SoCal Pipester. After some 16 years pretty much away from this smoky passion, I’ve been called to re-ignite my affair with the noble weed and again put flame to leaf — and test my budgetary discipline in face of all the latest works of pipe making artistry.
It’s fair to say I’ve never (almost) met a pipe tobacco I didn’t like — except for Latakia and dark fired Kentucky bombs, or many of the aromatic offerings, but I’ll explain that within my posts. I’m still looking for a lightly cased or topped tobacco that I can say without reservations I truly, completely enjoy. I know it’s out there, waiting for me. I’m primarily a VaPer guy; however, I do take to the “Lakeland” English blends and Balkan type of mixtures quite regularly — hey, I’ve also got a tin of Granger nearby.
As to pipes, with all the fantastic models out there, don’t ask me why, but I’m enamored of the Sixten Ivarsson creation found in Stanwell’s #118 style (though in the picture above I happen to be holding a Polinski).
SoCalPipester Blog is meant to be a way for me to engage and share with the small pipe tobacco smoking community, please share your thoughts and observations as we, together, keep this relaxing pastime alive.
